徐世昌(1855.10.24 - 1939.6.5)，字卜五，号菊人，又号弢斋、东海、涛斋，直隶（今河北）天津人。前清举人，后中进士。1905年曾任军机大臣。徐世昌深谋远虑，颇得袁世凯的器重；但他又能与袁保持距离，进退有度，在袁称帝时以沉默远离之。1918年10月，徐世昌被国会选为民国大总统，辞掉总统职务后，多次拒绝日本人的劝诱，不供伪职。徐世昌国学功底深厚，不但著书立言，而且研习书法，工于山水松竹，被称为“文治总统”。
