A GOLD SPLASHED CENSER, 18TH CENTURY
China. The square body with low rounded sides rising from four short legs to a raised circular mouth, set at the shoulder with a pair of imposing lion-head mask handles and decorated around the exterior with gold splashes.
Provenance: From a private collection of bronze censers, by repute acquired between 1980-2000.
Condition: Excellent condition with fine patina, old wear as expected on a bronze from this period. The stand with extensive wear and minor losses.
Weight: 510 grams (the censer) and 121 grams (the stand)
Dimensions: Width 12.5 cm
The base with an incised four-character mark reading Yongshi baoyong. Fitted wood stand, possibly of the period. (2)
