A SILVER AND GOLD INDLAID BRONZE CENSER, KANGXI
China, 1662-1722. Naturalistically cast, as a standing elephant with its head turned slightly to the left, trunk and tusks raised, the pierced cover in form of a young boy playing a pipe.
Provenance: From a private collection of fine bronzes, by repute acquired in the local auction market.
Condition: Fine condition with some wear and minor dents.
The pipe lost.

Dimensions: Height 21.3 cm
Note the fine floral gold and silver inlays to the boy’s garment borders, the ruyi-shaped saddle and the eyes and brows of the elephant.
