The French cane can be unscrewed into three sections: The mid-section contains a small drinking glass and the lower section a long tube for cognac or other alcoholic beverages. The shaft is made of blackened wood, brass and bears an iron ferrule.
Of all systems canes, the ‘Toulouse-Lautrec’ stick is certainly the most unique. This cane is named after the famed 19th-century artist whose personal reputation rested largely upon his frequent visits to cabarets and dance hall bars within the mystical underbelly of Montmartre in Paris, France. This intriguing type of cane, also known as a tippling stick, conceals a complete equipment for alcohol consumption in the hiding. Notably, it is said that Toulouse-Lautrec himself commissioned such a system cane for his personal habit absinth consumption.
