AN AMETHYST AND SILVER SNUFF BOTTLE
China, earlier 19th century. The stone carved in low relief with peony flowers and birds. The exterior mounted with fine silver filigree, depicting craggy rocks on both sides, the foot surrounded by an endless knot border.

Provenance: Robert Prescott collection label to base. Purchased from Douglas J. K. Wright Ltd., London, on July 30th, 1970, for 50 pounds sterling. The original invoice is accompanying this lot.
Condition: The stone in fine condition with some natural flaws. The silver with a few small dents. Old wear.
