Rectangular clock housing in the form of a bookcase surmounted by a wreath and book finial, oval base with two seated children reading books, the sides with chased garland mounts, stepped base and circular feet, bezel chased with a repeated pattern. Annular white enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, engine- turned gilt center. Dark steel Breguet hands. Circular plates, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, silk suspension, pendulum with gilt-brass bob, count wheel striking on a bell.
