Two adjoining Egyptian polychrome gesso painted wood panels, 3rd Intermediate Period circa 800-700 B.C., beneath a floral collar a kneeling winged goddess holding a maat feather facing right with a sun disc on her head, her name assumed to be in the vertical column of text before her face but can no longer be read, the row of hieroglyphs above her wing reads: "his mother Nut"; below right is a personified wedjat eye with an arm upraised, the text says: "words spoken by the wedjat"; immediately below is a panel with the balance in which the deceased's heart is weighed, at the back stands named Anubis facing left; a falcon-headed deity stands before him facing left, 20.4cm x 12.8cm and 39.6cm x 13.2cm (2) Provenance: Private collection of Werner Forman (1921-2010).
