PORCELAIN FIGURE: "Flamingo (head on back; original title)", design FRITZ HEIDENREICH (Mähring 1895-1966 Selb) 1934, model no. 1522, manufactory Rosenthal, Selb, mark from 1944. Flamingo standing on oval terrain plinth with leafy shrubs, with head turned back grooming its feathers. H. 14,5 cm. Heidenreich, a ceramist and sculptor, completed an apprenticeship in pottery, studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Nuremberg and attended the Porcelain College in Selb. From 1919 he worked for the Rosenthal manufactory as a retoucher, and finally as a modeller and designer. Especially his animal figures are known: for his fish group "Scalare" he was awarded at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937.
