ALIOTH, J. P. (20th/21st c. sculptor), Sculpture: "Daphne", bronze, light brown patinated and with gold accented hair, signed "J. P. Alioth" recessed on the plinth and mounted on marble pedestal. Standing female nude in aspiring pose with legs crossed and arms outstretched at sides with hands placed one over the other, depicted with surprised facial expression and in an upward movement that includes hair. Daphne (Greek "laurel") is a nymph of Greek mythology. Zeus transformed her into a laurel tree to protect her from Apollo's reenactments. The beginning of the transformation seems to be recorded here. The artist varied the motif of Daphne several times. H. 96 cm.
