SPINDLE CASE CLOCK, France or Switzerland, probably 2nd half of 18th century, key wound (without key). Round, partly gilded case, with flux pearl decoration on the front. Polychrome enamel painting on the back: depiction of a sacrificial scene in a historicist style; mother and boy in front of incense burner in the shape of a vase. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer minute scale. Inscribed on the dial "Ch's....Ducommu? / dit Boudry". Inscribed on the back of the movement "Ch Ducomun dit Boudrit" . Marked on caseback "DV under leaf / LYTCH (or LETCH) / 4047". Openworked balance cock, chain on fusee. Diameter 4,7 cm. Movement starts only briefly - overhaul recommended.(Signs of use; hands missing; enamel damaged; bumped several times).
