195,5 x 113,4 cm Condition Style of Wang Fu (1362-1416), China, ca. 17th ct., pair of Pines with Two Tigers and Two White Eagles. Hanging scroll, ink and colours on silk. Signature: "Year by year a higher age. In the eighth year of the Hongwu reign, an yimao year (1375) painted in middle spring by Jiulong shanren Wang Fu". One seal: "fu". Two Imperial seals of Kangxi (1662-1722) and Qianlong (1736-1795): "Kangxi yulan zhi bao", "Qianlong yulan zhi bao" and other three collector seals qian'gu huating he zi fei etc. This is a typical painting done as a birthday present. It is a richly executed, impressive composition. The bamboo, for example, is painted in a meticulous gongbi style and has outlines of gold pigment.
