Offered is a dark blue transferprinted plate from the factory of Enoch Wood made for the American market. It is titled Marine Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky and would date from the 1820's to early 1830's. The title appears on the front below the scene of the hospital and the back has the impressed mark with eagle used by Wood on some American scene plates. This plate is from the shell border series, a very popular series with American scene collectors. Three evenly spaced stilt marks appear on the front and back from kiln stacking. Dimensions: The diameter is 9". Condition: Excellent. There are no chips or cracks and no repairs. The color is dark, the print is clear, and the glaze is smooth and glossy without a scratch. It looks like it sat in a cupboard unused for almost 200 years. IMPORTANT UPDATE: Ruby Lane must now add sales tax to your if your US state has sales tax. Early period antiques are quite old, were made to be used, and frequently have signs of age and use and sometimes a small manufacturing flaw or repair. While this is normal and to be expected, I note any known issues in the condition description. is free for the lower 48 continental states in the United States. Other state or international buyers must pay for ping. Please contact me for a quote. All credit purchases as well as those by international buyers must be made through .
