砚为澄泥质，长方形，厚重大气，四面圆角，正面宽立边，素面。开淌池，砚面平素，池前饰浅雕仿古夔龙纹，砚背开覆手，光素无纹饰。砚质地坚细，线条挺拔利落，质朴沉稳。色呈砖红色，配红木砚盒。
