砚就天然汉白玉制成，正长方形，色呈黄褐，如意形墨池，周围浮雕双龙戏珠纹，砚首苍龙与云纹相称，云气升降，荡谲生动。汉白玉其石质温润，色泽沉静，打灯通透，泛黄褐色，内含闪光结晶体，给人一尘不染和庄严肃穆的美感，因其特有的美名而蜚声中外，著称于世，雕凿精炼古朴。表面略有风化痕迹，砚至元明时期，完整保存至今，殊为难得，寄情寓意，可以幽古。配红木盒。
