Two Byzantine pottery footed bowls, 9-10th century, the unglazed body decorated to the interior with green and yellow undulating bands, one with scraffiato design of a bird, the other the scraffiato circles, 20cm. diam. and 19.8cm. diam (2) Provenance: Theo Sarmas (d. 2018) collection in London since early 1960s. Property from the private collection of Theo Sarmas 1938 -2018. Theo Sarmas was a London businessman who was a passionate collector of Byzantine ceramics and Greek coinage. Princeton University, New Jersey holds the Theo Sarmas collection of medieval Greek coinage. Please refer to department for condition report
