A Kashan lustre pottery star tile, heavily restored, Iran, 13th century, the lustre ground painted with leafy motifs around the cobalt blue flowers, a bird either side, the border with naskh inscription, 21cm. diam. Provenance: Acquired by Eric Crowe, son of diplomat Sir Eyre Crowe (1864-1925), when he was posted to Tehran as a British diplomat between 1939-41 and thence by descent to Sir Brian Crowe (1938-2020) and family.
