A Qajar lacquered papier mache mirror case section, Iran, early 19th century, of rectangular form, decorated with large central lobed medallion containing combatant animals in gold on a black ground, two smaller similarly decorated lozenges above and below containing birds, on a orangey ground, within a border of repeating gold diamonds on a dark red ground and outer border of alternating repeating flowerheads in gold on a black ground, the reverse missing panel and border of gold repeating alternating flowers on a green ground, old Kevorkian collection label no 4328 and another old label no 257, 33.2 x 24cm.
