A Qajar gold damascened steel talismanic bazuband, Iran, 19th century, of octagonal form, with attachment loops either side, the lid and sides with damascened inscriptions, the base plain, 4.7cm. diam. Provenance: By repute formerly in the collection of the Russian royal family purchased by Armand Hammer (1898-1990), former owner and manager of American company Occidental Petroleum, from the Soviets in the early 1920's.
