BIG CARPET, Persia, probably 1st half of the 20th century / around 1900, finely woven with short shorn pile. Large red-ground field with blue-ground central medallion with floral decoration and blue-ground spandrels with floral decoration. The rest of the field is covered with flowers and arabesques. Wide blue-ground main motifs with Herati motif. Smaller secondary borders with geometric or floral friezes. Carpet with fringed finish. L. (with fringes) 310 x w. 195 cm. (Signs of use; pile partially rubbed, partially minor with missing parts; border area and fringes partially damaged). Carpet not cleaned.
