A Chinese gilt bronze mirror with birds and flower, dating from the Tang dynasty (618-906). A square shape mirror with rounded edges, front almost like a shield, with raised birds and flowers surrounding a central frog in gold color. There is a ringed frame around the image. A large amount of the gilding is still intact and mirror design is bright. H. & W. 4" (10.1 cm) Provenance: collection of Dr. Frank Gabrin, East Orange ,New Jersey Condition: good condition overall for age and use, with age appropriate patina discoloration and oxidation to the bronze.
