A pair of Chinese,Qing Dynasty, bronze incense burners with carp and scholar motif. The scholar, with open scroll, sits side sattle on the curved carp, raising itself on its front fins. The scholar, anchored by a pin in the front, can be lifted up to reveal the hole for the incense. Holes at the mouth of the carp and the back of the scholar for the smoke. H. 8 1/2" (21.6 cm), W. 101/4" (26 cm) Condition: good condition overall for age and use. One scholar figure missing the pin which connects to the carp.
