A large Japanese hand held mirror with crane and turtles, dating from the Edo period (1603-1867). Round mirror with incised design of two craned, one in flight and one standing by water, amongst trees. A row of Japanese characters on the left side. Raised rim on side with design, but flat on mirror side. Polished mirror surface on opposite side. with a thick flat handled to hold the mirror. D. 9 1/2" ( 24.2 cm) Total height: 13 5/8" (34.6 cm) Condition: good condition overall for age and use, with tarnish and wear to both sides.
