A beautiful Doulton Lambeth vase, 9 3/4" high, circa , circa 1875, signed and decorated by Arthur Barlow, who worked for Doulton between 1871-1878, and also decorated by Mary Ann Thompson. It has a relief floral decoration in blues and browns. It has an impressed Doulton Lambeth mark as well as the initials "ABB" for Arthur Barlow, and "MT" for Mary Ann Thompson. There are 3 other impressed lower case letters, "g", "s", and "o". The vase is in very good condition with no noticeable defects. Arthur Barlow was a member of the famous Barlow family who worked for Doulton in the late 19th century. Together with his sisters, Hannah & Florence, they produced some of the highest quality and most collected pieces of Doulton Lambeth wares. Unfortunately, Arthur's health was not the best and he died in 1879 at the age of 34. His sisters continued to produce quality work into the early 1900s.
