DESCRIPTION: On an antique blank from T&V (Tresseman & Vogt), this beautiful Receiving Tray was painted by the Royal China Limoges decorating workshop in Limoges. One pristine white porcelain, the tray is handpainted. It features a lavish sprinkling of purple Violets defined with fine brushstrokes to create a naturalistic style. The ground is white porcelain with center of shadow blue and yellow hues. The scalloped edges are embossed and outlined with fine lines of gold, appropriately placed to add formality to this piece. The gilt shows rubbing in one corner (where it was picked up through the past 100 years), however it is perfectly acceptable and blends into the overall design on white porcelain. This is the perfect gift for the executive in your life who appreciates flowers and especially purple Violets. WHY I LIKE IT: It all began in the 18th Century with the Visiting Card (or Calling Card) during a time of sophistication and proper etiquette. On your moderne desk, it holds the business card of today. This receiving tray is small but large enough to hold the business cards of those whoe calling to your office meeting. DIMENSIONS: 8-3/4” x 3-3/8” CIRCA: 1920 BACKSTAMP(s): T&V France (in green) ca.1892-1907. Royal China Limoges (in purple) ca.1922-1940s CONDITION: Very Good. No chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Production anomalies may exist i.e. glaze pops, paint imperfections, dust speck, etc. Slight gold rubbing acceptable for the age. Thank You for visiting ModerneAntiques & Collectibles. Best, Maureen
