Here is a great antique example of Sumida Gawa art pottery produced in Japan. This tankard or pitcher features elephants on the side, under the thick multicolored dark glaze dripping down from the top. Sumida Gawa pottery was made from the clay in the banks of the Sumida River n Tokyo. This piece is signed on the back, and I believe the marking is for Ban-Ni. This tankard stands 8" tall and measures 5" across. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. This is part of a collection of large Sumida Gawa collection that I will be listing in the uing weeks!
