John Ridgway & Co. Transferware plate or shallow bowl in the "Chinese" pattern. This lovely 14-sided plate or shallow bowl is done in blue and white. It has a pseudo Chinese character stamp mark that reads "Chinese" and "JR& Co.". Some sources indicate that this mark was used between 1841 and 1855. John Ridgeway & Co. made several variations of this pattern and it was done in multiple colors. The quality of this particular piece is quite nice with no chips or other damage. The plate/bowl is 1 1/2" tall and approximately 9 1/2" in diameter. I believe it to be a shallow soup bowl, but I've seen others refer to it as a plate. Either way, it is a very nice size for display.
