Description
Translation provided by Youdao
This oval teapot has relief decoration including classical medallions on sides, geometric and leaf bands, and leaf molding on handle and spout. The body is earthenware in a tan color, and the detailing is in pink luster. No maker's marks. Gibson's "Nineteenth Century Lusterware" shows an example in blue, without positive attribution. Berthoud shows related examples, also unattributed. English, ca. 1820 Size: Approximately 10 ¾" long, 5 ½" wide, 6 ½" high. Condition: Lid has had a professional restoration (probably for edge chipping), tiny chip on collar and opening lid flange, additional chipping during manufacture, Crow's foot on bottom that does not go through. Sounds awful, but actually displays quite well. Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, returns are no problem if I happen to miss anything.
