We are listing a bright blue and white 6" square footed tea tile made by Villeroy & Boch in the late 19th/early 20th century. It is marked on the back with the word "Concord" which is the apparent pattern featuring clusters of grapes and grape vines and leaves which surround the center solid blue square and are bordered on the outer edges by a solid half-inch blue band. We found this lovely piece at a recent estate sale and think it is perfect for almost any home! It has four molded "feet" which raise it about 3/8" from the table which keeps any intense heat from a kettle, dish, etc. to transfer to the surface of the table. So not only pretty but practical as well. The maker, Villeroy & Boch began in 1874 and has used essentially the same logo with the winged figure and the crossed scepters with crowned tops since that time with minor variations. The Concord pattern is also included below thepany logo. The mark, as you can see in the last photo, indicates that it was made in the Dresden factory which was the capitol city of Saxony. Saxony was under Prussian control from about 1871 until the end of WWI when it became a province within Germany in 1918. The piece is in good used condition with age-appropriate wear and crazing under the glaze on the back. This tile is so bright and cheery it is sure to perk up your countertop or table!
