A stunning and rare porcelain Imari pitcher with silver plated lid, engraved on one side to read: UPPINGHAM SCHOOL ATHLETICS 1885 1st 120 Yds HURDLES O.B. RICHARDS. In amazing condition for it's age, no chips or cracks to the porcelain, no dents or damage to the silver plate. The silverplate lid was held in place with 4 rivets which went through both the lid and the top rim of the pitcher. The inside of the top of the jug is drilled with holes matching the silver rim although there are no pins in the silver; however, the metal rim is well fitted and tight. This is a very minor issue and does not detract from the piece's beauty or usability in any way. The lid has the makers marks for John Harrison Norfolk Works. The Bottom of the Jug has the antique Ridgway mark and the name Old Derby (this is the Imari pattern name). Stands approximately 7 1/8 inches to the top of the finial on the lid with the base measures just over 3 1/2 inches across
