AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ BOX WITH ANIMALSChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The round body with its conforming lid, adorned with archaistic patterns, animals including a monkey, a bird, and a peacock as well as fruits growing on leafy branches. The box raised on three squat legs in the shape of owls with extended wings.Condition: Good condition with some surface wear, rubbing to the gilt, and with areas of malachite, azurite, and cuprite encrustations, especially to the interior. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
