铭文：陈端友制赠端石猿猴砚 陈端友（1891-1959），江苏常熟人。初从扬州张太平学刻砚，后至上海，入题襟馆，与金石书画家游，业益进。解放后曾入华东艺专，1958年调入上海市文史馆。为人淳朴耿介，不谐于俗，终身不娶。名作有瓜砚、笋砚、古践砚、松菌砚、田螺砚、海天入浴砚、竹节砚、龟砚等，每作常倾数年或十数年之力为之，精工巧妙，形神自然，不愧杰作。砚盒亦必自制，与砚相配。
