A Chinese white jade carved plume holder, dating from the Qing dynasty. A cylindrical, hollow ornament carved from white jade. It was made for holding plumes on the hat worn with a Qing-Dynaty official's formal dress. The plume was a peacock's feather. Braided silk cord is tied through top curved knob, using an intricate knot and has an additional jade bead. L. 3" (7.6 cm) Condition: very good condition for age and use. Tiny chip along edge on one side.
