Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A large Burmese gilt lacquered wood buddha figure, dating from the 19th century. The barefoot buddha stands upright, almost floating on a small wooden lotus base, with its hands facing outwards, palms open. Its eyes closed and a slight inwards smile, with Figure mounted on a black wooden block. The standing figure more impressive with the robe that billows out to the sides of the figure at the legs. Much of the gilding and painted areas still intact despite material and age, giving a very splendid appearance. Figure: H. 37 1/2" (95.2 cm), Base: 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) Condition: good condition overall for age and use. The hands are separately and attached inside the sleeves. Losses to the gilding and the painted areas.
