A splendid and very typical example of the finest in early French porcelain. Pierre Derulle founded a porcelain factory in 1771 under the patronage of thete de Provence, the brother of King Louis XVIII. The products were said to be nearly equal in quality to those of Sevres, and beautifully painted in all the fashionable styles. The red stenciled mark seen on the reverse of this plate was used from about 1775 until 1793, when Moitte was running the factory. It is in excellent condition. If the buyer wishes, I can color in the speck of blue glaze missing from the inner line.
