Here's a lovely antique porcelain coffee can or cup from the Georgian period circa 1790 to 1800. It is hand painted with a central landscape en grisaille at the front. The sides have mauve pink flowers with light green leaves. Three wide gold bands surround the rim, the middle and the bottom, and a circular band of gold surrounds the landscape in the front. The handle is also gilded. The cup measures 2 3/8" high and 2 5/8" in diameter across the top and 2 3/8" in diameter at the bottom, so it tapers ever so slightly from top to bottom. The condition is excellent. A very beautiful coffee can with perfect economy of design.
