A Chinese Cizhou type Ovoid Bottle with Bird Pattern – Ming Dynasty or Later. This jar, or bottle, is coated in a dark brown / black glaze over a lighter brown slip. It is decorated on opposing sides of the shoulder with two birds in flight painted in overglaze iron oxide. Height 18.5cm (7.5 inches). Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), possibly later. Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
