It is always rewarding to find one of my pieces illustrated in a reference book! This pattern number 239, is shown on several pieces in Michael Messenger's "Coalport" book on page 106 in plates 52 & 53. This c 1810 sucrier is about 7-1/2" wide, and 5-1/2" high. It is in excellent condition, having only some wear to the gilding, and a small "in-the-making" firing crack on one of the handles. The finial is slightly off-kilter, but there is no evidence of any repair there...so again, a slight "in-the-making" flaw. What may look like a light crow's foot crack in the base, is very shallow, and in the glaze only. I cannot feel it with a fingernail. Both pieces ring when tapped. I also have for sale the matching cream jug and waste bowl. A note: the partial tea set shown in Messenger's book is owned by the Clive House Museum in Shrewsbury. However, they seem to be missing this sucrier...it would be great if someone would buy it and donate it to them!
